Trip Overview
The Pikey Peak trek offers an unforgettable experience traveling through lush green hills full of aesthetic scenes and spots. Being a part of the Everest region, it has quite a competitor (EBC trekking), but despite EBC being an option, the Pikey Peak trek is adored by more people.
One of the major cultural highlights of the Pekay peak trek is to visit Thupten Choling Monastery at Junibesi village. The history of Thupten Choling Monastery traces back to the 1960s, a turbulent era for Tibet. Amid the chaos of the 1959 Chinese invasion, the esteemed lama Trulsik Rinpoche, along with a large group of followers, including nuns (anis) and monks, fled from Rongbuk Gompa in Tibet. Seeking refuge, they journeyed to the Khumbu region. For several years, Rinpoche and his followers found temporary shelter in various monasteries, including Chiwong, all the while holding onto the hope of returning to their homeland. It was in 1968 that Rinpoche, with the support of donated land near Junbesi, founded Thupten Choling, establishing a new center for spiritual practice and community. We will spend about 2 hours here watching Buddhism practice and hot lunch served by monastery.
The reason for its popularity lies in the fact that the trail is one of the most beautiful hilly trails you will ever be in. The nature there is untouched and with little human interaction.
During the spring season, you will find wildflowers here and there, which makes the trek even more aesthetic. You will also be passing through multiple villages and settlements that are equally beautiful, if not more. These villages are known for their cheese and Yak milk. Both of which can be enjoyed with morning tea.
The main reason behind the success of this trail is the fact that it is not crowded like many of the trekking trails in Nepal. As you make your way up, you will make your way through an alpine forest with beautiful white mountains in the background; it doesn’t get better than that.
Along with being a nature lover’s dream trek, this trial also offers a cultural experience as we will be meeting the locals of different villages, interacting with them, and trying to understand where to come from, what their values are, and so on.
We will be passing through and staying at different Sherpa villages throughout our trekking duration. This will give you enough time to taste their food, see their culture, and understand their lives to some extent.
The Pikey Peak trek extends for a total of 10 days, during which you will reach a maximum elevation of 4065 meters at Pikey Peak and walk through hills, forests, and snow to reach the ultimate destination. You will be able to view Mt. Everest in all its glory while also having a clear view of Annapurna, Lhotse, Manaslu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga.
Compared to most other treks, it falls in the short trek category as we will not have to trek for a long distance. Compared to most, it is also a budget-friendly option, but that does not mean that it is any less exciting and fun than the others. In fact, it is one of the most beautiful treks you will ever be a part of.
In addition to that, not many people travel this route, which makes it a perfect option for those who prefer a personal trekking experience. Even at certain lodges, you might be the only guest.
With that being said, here’s a detailed article on our Pikey Peak trek. Here, you will find every little detail to help you consider taking this trek.

These attractions are not just for show, these are historically, religiously, and culturally important for the people of Nepal.
People of different religions, beliefs, and values are attracted by these buildings and sites because they are a part of the culture, not just religious sites for certain religious followers. As we visit site after site, our guide will let you in on the importance and history of the site. Most of these sites are UNESCO heritage sites that are conserved and protected.
A few of the attractions will require tickets to visit, but we will take care of that as a part of the Pikey Peak trekking package. Any drinks that you get during the sightseeing tour will not be covered by the package, we are only responsible for daily meals.

Trulsik Rinpoche of the Rongbuk Gopma, Tibet, reached the Khumbu region of Nepal along with a bunch of followers, including monks and aanis (female lamas).
