Langtang Valley Trek Content

Trip Overview

Langtang Valley trek is the most diverse trek near Kathmandu and offers you the majestic sights of waterfalls, bamboo forests, snow-capped Himalayas, and a variety of rhododendrons. Although the Langtang Valley trek does not have the same infrastructure as the Everest and Annapurna regions, this trek offers more spectacular views in a short amount of time than any other trek in Nepal.

Langtang Valley, also known as the pearl of the Himalayas, lies on the northern border of Nepal and Tibet. It is a narrow valley located deep in the Himalayan Mountains and has been designated and protected as a national park since 1976. The valley is an abode to Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, Porong Ri, Yala Peak, and endless 6000 m snow peaks along with gray langur monkeys, red pandas, Himalayan black bears, different species of rhododendron and numerous other flora and fauna.

It boasts a mysterious landscape resembling a mixture of the Alps and the Himalayas. If you go there, surrounded by dense forests, valleys, and snowy mountains, you can also meet the locals of Langtang Valley, who are mainly Sherpas, Tamangs, and Gurungs. They follow Tibetan Buddhism, and some also believe in Hinduism and Animism.

The whole Langtang village was devastated by the 2015 Nepal Earthquake. However, the perseverance of locals and local government soon rebuilt the village and successfully returned the region’s glory.
Our short 11-day Langtang Valley trek is an excellent opportunity to travel to secluded places to go through a difficult but very beautiful and interesting trek through the Langtang Valley. We will reach the Buddhist monastery Kyanjin Gompa and climb Kyangjin Ri at 4700 m elevation.

It is highly recommended for hikers who want to avoid crowds but still experience Nepal’s majestic landscape in a short time. The Langtang Valley trek is moderate trekking with no requirement of previous trekking experience. Teahouses and lodges are available for meals and overnight stays. March to June and September to December are the best time of the year for Langtang Valley Trek.
