Kangchenjunga Base Camp Trek

Trip Overview

Kanchenjunga, believed to be the home of the ‘Yeti’ (Abominable Snowman), is a place steeped in local folklore and spiritual significance. It is also known as ‘The Five Treasures of the Snow,’ a name that refers to its five high peaks. According to local legend, these peaks are repositories of divine treasures: gold, silver, gems, grain, and holy books. These treasures, believed to be gifts from the gods, are hidden within the mountain and are said to be revealed only to the devout in times of great need.

Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain, with an altitude of 8486 meters, is a bucket-list mountain for several mountaineers. The Kanchenjunga Circuit, Kanchenjunga North Base Camp, and South Base Camp are the popular trekking destinations in the region. The trails, raw, unspoiled, and barely trodden, offer a unique adventure for those seeking to explore the unknown. The area is home to abundant flora & fauna, including mammal species like the snow leopard, Asian black bear, and red panda, and bird species symbolic of the area like the golden-breasted fulvetta, snow cock, blood pheasant, and red-billed chough.

Kanchenjunga is a well-protected hidden treasure in Nepal, located in the far eastern part of the country and bordering Sikkim, India. The Kanchenjunga trek not only leads you to the abundant pristine settlement of Limbu and Sherpa culture but also offers a unique opportunity to get close to the history of Nepal. The trail crosses lush forests, farmlands, meadows, moraines, glaciers, rivers, waterfalls, caves, shortens, and beautiful villages. Get to experience the magnificent mountains like Tent Peak, Mt. Kambachen, Mt. Janu, etc, including the eight-thousanders like Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Lhotse. If you are searching for something extraordinary and a magical venture in the Himalayas, seeking to take the adventure to the next. In that case, the Kanchenjunga Region is a suitable choice.
