Trip Overview
Mardi is a breathtakingly lovely place with unspoiled nature that hasn’t been exploited. Since the formal opening of the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek path to in 2012, countless people have descended upon this beautiful terrain.
The Mardi Trek is regarded as one of Nepal’s simplest hikes. The walking trail winds through woodlands, and you’ll be enthralled with the breathtaking views as you go. The journey to Mardi Himal begins at Kande. In order to start the journey early in the morning, one has the option to spend the night at Kande or Pokhara. But we will be taking an alternative route for this trek.
The massive hill that divides the Modi Khola and Mardi Khola valleys is followed by the Mardi Himal Base Camp trek itinerary. It makes use of an antiquated system of shepherds’ paths that link pasture-opening spaces to rhododendron woodland slopes. These paths then merge on the ridge path that leads to the high-altitude grasslands, where cattle are grazed up to 4,500 meters above sea level after winter snows thaw.
A few groups of hikers used these paths in the beginning, the initial group of people that set up tents here far in advance of the formal opening of the Mardi Himal Base Camp route in 2012.
Additionally, it is quite modular; it may be combined with the well-liked Poon Hill trek, for example, to create a more ambitious 8–10 day circuit. Alternatively, it can be completed in 5 days, round trip.
Finally, it is regarded as a walk that has no significant challenges, making it suitable for novice hikers while providing a thorough and varied view of alpine scenery.

On day 2, you will be introduced to the crew members including the guide and porters. Our guide will be responsible for managing the trek itinerary and our porters will carry your luggage all the way to the top and back.
After the short introduction, our guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of the city of Kathmandu. The one-day Kathmandu sightseeing trip includes a tour of UNESCO World Heritage sites. Swayambhunath Temple, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square, are the places that make up this tour.
If we are pressed for time, we may choose not to visit some of the aforementioned locations. The Kathmandu sightseeing tour combines brief trips to the stunning city of Kathmandu with a variety of devotional, historic, mystical, and cultural experiences.

After an exciting day of sightseeing, we will move on to Pokhara, a beautiful city 200 km west of Kathmandu. You will be traveling to Pokhara on a tourist bus which should take around 6 to 7 hours. But if you want to spend more time in Pokhara, you can just take a flight instead.
The flight to Pokhara takes around 25 minutes and is not a subject of inclusion. The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek will not cover this flight expense. You have to pay for it out of your own pocket.
As for the food, we will only provide you with breakfast while you are in the cities. Every other meal is your own expense. We will provide 3 meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) every day during the trekking days.

Your trek guide will come to your Pokhara hotel to take you up to begin the Mardi Trek. After that, we'll take a car to Dhampus Village to begin our hike.
Deurali is a little town that was developed specifically to house hikers visiting the region. Originally used by shepherds to transport their sheep, the location is now a halt on the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek, one of the most well-known hiking trails in Nepal.
About 60 kilometers (37 miles) to the north of Pokhara lies Deurali. Situated south of the Annapurna Himalayan range in Nepal, it is situated inside the protected area of the Annapurna Conservation Area. Every day during the busiest season, hundreds of hikers pass by; plenty of chances to make new friends with the same interests.
From Dhampus, it takes almost three hours to go to Deurali, where visitors may take in the abundant wildlife along Modi Khola and bamboo forests. Following the Dhampus trekkers, the forest gradually becomes thinner as they approach the alpine region.
Once beyond the tree line, shrubs, and arid ground are visible. One of the most breathtaking peaks in the entire globe, Fishtail Mountain, is another breathtaking sight to behold on the trip. It's also a chance to enjoy the kind hospitality of the locals, who are renowned for their warmth and politeness.

Today, we will have a strenuous ascent through dense forest for the majority of the day, offering stunning vistas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. It's possible that we'll get a glimpse of some of the plethora of animals that call this deep jungle home, including deer, monkeys, leopards, and other bird species. It is afternoon when we arrive at Forest Camp.
The views from Dhampus were not quite as spectacular as those from Forest Camp. Unlike other locations along the route, Forest Camp is really simply a few vacation rental homes; locals do not permanently reside there. Instead, it is only a community.
To reach Forest Camp it takes around 6–7 hours from Pothana, while it takes about 5–6 hours from Pitam Deurali. You begin to ascend into the Rhododendron forest from Pitam Deurali, leaving the major Annapurna path behind. During the summer monsoon, shepherds used this passage to transport their livestock to higher pastures. There are many paths that lead to nearby settlements.
You will be strolling over the forest's crest, with occasional descents and largely ascents. You can enjoy your packed lunch at any of the numerous openings. As the name suggests, Forest Camp is located in the center of a gorgeous forest.

We will journey through the woods for the first part of the day, where you may see a variety of birds hidden between the trees. We will be able to observe distant mountain ranges and snow-capped summits starting from Low Camp. On the route, there are many locations to stop for refreshments including tea, snacks, and water.
The views from Low Camp become better and better, and if the weather is fortunate, you can see many peaks, including Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Mardi Himal. Though not as strenuous as the day before, the trek will still be difficult, and the climb will take longer but not be as steep as it was on the path to Forest Camp.
The ascent from Low Camp is almost 3,000 meters and becomes increasingly difficult. The practical thing we will do is approach cautiously, take regular breaks to rest, and consume plenty of water. We will take breaks at a few of the tea establishments along the route. If you have any altitude sickness signs, such as headaches, spend a restful night at a lower elevation to allow your body more time to acclimate. Then, the following day, you will continue going upward.
Following the Middle Camp, some of the nicest views in this area of the park will be seen. There are mountains and valleys all around, snow peaks that are very close, birds flying by, etc.

The greatest and hardest day of our eight-day Mardi Trekking is today. Our trek will begin at 4 AM when we get up at 3:40 AM. Since we have to return to the same location after the hike, we will be traveling to Mardi Himal Base Camp with a smaller backpack leaving our luggage.Â
To see the rising sun from the viewpoint or en route to the viewpoint, we must awaken in the early hours of the day. We will not see the stunning views of the dawn and the striking vistas of the mountains if we leave in the late morning due to clouds and fog.
We will trek from High Camp to the viewing station for around two hours. Three teashops are located there, offering tea and coffee while enjoying breathtaking views of the mountains. We have to bring food for breakfast so we can eat it on the go because at the time we leave, the eateries will not be open.
Before arriving at the top viewpoint, we will trek along the tight path from the lower viewpoint. The reward for all the effort is the breathtaking vista at the summit of the hike. We will retrace our steps to High Camp and eat lunch there after arriving at Mardi Himal Base Camp. Following a little rest, we will begin trekking to Low Camp.

The steep downhill trail from Low Camp to Landruk may be rather taxing on the knees. Between Forest Base Camp and Landruk is where the steepest portion is located. On the other hand, you may appreciate the deep forests, home to a variety of bird species, and the stroll today will be easy. Ghandruk, a considerably bigger settlement, appears to be the sibling of Landruk, where the majority population is made up of Gurungs.
We will first descend the Modi River from Landruk, then climb for a couple more hours to arrive at Ghandruk, an indigenous Gurung settlement renowned for its breathtaking appearance. You may also enjoy stunning views of Mt. Fishtail and the Annapurna Himalayan range from Ghandruk.
From Ghandruk, it will take us about 45 minutes to an hour to reach Phedi where our Jeep will be waiting to take us to the city of Pokhara. We will reach Pokhara in the late afternoon or early evening. You will have an hour or two of daylight to explore Pokhara.

The following day, we will be going back to Kathmandu after breakfast. We will have our lunch on the way. If you do not want to travel on bus for 6 to 7 hours, you are free to book a flight that will take you to Kathmandu in about 25 minutes. However, we will not be responsible for covering your flight expenses while the trek package does cover the tourist bus ride to and from Kathmandu.
